Love Your Local Market!

Nottingham City Council is celebrating the national 2013 Love Your Local Market campaign by encouraging people to rediscover their local market.

The campaign runs from Wednesday 15 - 29 May and is led by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) and is backed by Central Government and the wider market industry.

The campaign aims to attract new market traders and also aims to highlight the importance that markets play in the heart of the local community, not only for retail but they are a valuable community asset and provide the focal point of many of our town centres.

The Love your Local Market campaign will celebrate all the local markets in Nottingham City - Bilborough, Bulwell, Clifton, St Ann's, Hyson Green, Victoria Centre Market and a thriving car boot sale in Colwick.

Cllr David Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and Tourism at Nottingham City Council, said: "The Love your Local Market fortnight is a great opportunity to rediscover all the quality local produce and goods your nearest market has to offer.

"Each one of our markets offers a fantastic selection of goods at affordable prices, including fresh fruit and vegetables, cosmetics products and the finest range of fabrics - Nottingham's markets have something for everyone."

As part of the campaign people can visit a variety of new traders on Victoria Centre Market Food Hall after Nottingham City Council offered the chance for food traders to trade for free during the fortnight.
